CIE Activities

Proofreading and Recording Services

The Center for International Exchange (CIE) provides English proofreading and recording services for 色多多视频 (KMU) faculty and staff as support for research activities.

The services are limited to abstracts, poster presentations, and oral presentations (the first author must be a KMU faculty or staff member).

Please fill out an application form (KMU intranet only) and send it to the CIE by e-mail.

Evening English

Evening English is a program of English conversation classes offered to faculty, staff, and students of KMU. There are three courses, each offering 10 lessons, twice a year. Instructors are English native-speaker teachers of the Division of General Education at KMU. (Please check with the CIE for current course availability.)

Course 1: Beginner

Thursdays (17:30 - 18:45)
Participants practice using easy conversational English to develop basic listening and speaking skills.

Course 2: Upper Beginner/Intermediate

Thursdays (17:30 - 18:45)
Participants practice using English through textbook work in pairs/groups and open topic conversations.

Course 3: Intermediate/Advanced

Wednesdays (17:30 - 18:45)
Participants build English fluency through open topic conversations.

TOEFL ITP

TOEFL-ITP is held at KMU once a year for students, faculty, and staff as an opportunity to measure the English proficiency and communication skills required for overseas programs and work.

JCSOS (The Japanese Council for the Safety of Overseas Students)

KMU became a member institution of JCSOS in July 2008 as part of KMU's crisis management system. Students, faculty and staff of KMU are required to join the JCSOS when traveling overseas for purpose other than private matters.

It is strongly requested to take out an overseas travel insurance and register for "たびレジ".

Lectures and Workshops

Lectures and workshops are held for students, faculty, and staff to support their research and English presentation skills.
