Mathematics

Outline

Current members are associate professor Yasuo Iida and senior assistant Professor Tomoki Inoue. Classes we teach include Medical Statistics, General Human Science, and Basic Skills Seminar at the School of Medicine, Medical Statistics at the Graduate School of Medicine, and Statistics at the School of Nursing.
Regarding research, Yasuo Iida has been studying function spaces of holomorphic functions on the unit disk or upper half plane, especially the Smirnov class, the Privalov space, and Hardy spaces. Most of his work concerns isometries on these spaces. He has been interested in multiplicative (but not necessarily linear) isometries lately. Tomoki Inoue has been working on the development of new ideas for teaching materials and tools to help students be more familiar with mathematics based on his experience as a high school teacher. His current research topics are differential geometry and graph theory in topology.
Aside from research on mathematics and mathematics education, we provide support in statistical analysis to faculty members for their medical research projects.
