Hepatology

Outline
In February, 2013, the Department of Hepatology became a clinical department at 色多多视频 Hospital, independent of the Department of Gastroenterology. Then in September, 2016, the Department of Hepatology was established in the School of Medicine.
In clinical practice, we treat patients with gastrointestinal disorders, especially patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. In particular, we conduct antiviral therapy for hepatitis B and C patients, and, in collaboration with the Department of Radiology, we perform radiofrequency ablation and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. We actively employ endoscopic treatment for pancreatic cancer and biliary tract diseases such as cholelithiasis.
In research, our focus is on elucidation of the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver diseases and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Presently, we are conducting research on the prevention of hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury. In addition, we are collaborating with the Regenerative Medicine Center and Medical Research Institute on the theme of liver regeneration with hepatic stem cells.
In education, the whole department is dedicated to training students in Bedside Learning and Clinical Clerkship, giving unit lectures, and providing individual tutoring to some 6th year students as part of their preparation for the National Examination. In postgraduate medical education, we teach various procedures to the residents and also help them acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for diagnosis and treatment.
All our members are doing their best in education, treatment and research to make our department vibrant and active.
